One of the fall season’s most eagerly awaited events is happening off-Broadway beginning September 14: Signature Theatre Company’s first New York revival of Tony Kushner’s two-part epic, Angels in America. Director Michael Greif has assembled a top-drawer cast to bring the Tony-winning plays Millennium Approaches and Perestroika back to the stage, and photographer Gregory Costanzo captured them (looking understandably excited!) early in rehearsal.
The Angels in America ensemble includes (from left): Robin Weigert as the Angel, Christian Borle as Prior Walter, Zachary Quinto as Louis Ironson, Zoe Kazan as Harper Pitt, Bill Heck as Joe Pitt, Billy Porter as Belize, Robin Bartlett as Ethel Rosenberg and other roles and Frank Wood as Roy Cohn.
Both parts of Angels in America will play in repertory from the start of performances, with opening night for this not-to-be-missed double revival on October 28.
